A sport created A man named Max Keiser drew up the first rules of field handball in 1917. Field Handball is rarely played anymore at an organized level. Modern Indoor Team Handball has six players playing on court and there´s a goalkeeper.

Why Handball is popular in Iceland We have a lot of known handball players playing in the big leauges. Our male national team is super good. And it is a fun sport.

Iceland and Czech Republic competed on 2nd of june 2013 in the qualifing competition for the world cup. Czech Republic won the game 29-17. The game was played in the Vodafone arena in Iceland.

The creation of football People belive that football (soccer) goes back to the year of 2500 BC. Soccer began to evolve in modern Europe from the 9th century. Soccer started in public schools in England in the 16 th century. The rule began to evolve in Britain in the 1700s. Soccer teams also were formly created in the 1700s.

Why is football popular in Iceland? Mainly because it is popular all around the world. In Iceland for many boys, football is the first sport they try. Our Male and female national teams are pretty good now… Our male team almost made it to the world cup after getting eliminated by Croatia. Our female team has made it to the Euro cup, and the world cup several times
