Observation #1 We are to live according to who we are: (chosen) sojourners and pilgrims. This is not our home! 1 Peter 2:11

Observation #2 Our desires are at war with our souls 1 Peter 2:11

Observation #3 Believers will often not be represented accurately; we need to prove them wrong! 1 Peter 2:12

Observation #4 Good works prove false accusations to be just that; false. 1 Peter 2:12 (Mt. 5:11-16; Tit. 2:11-14; 3:8; James 2:21-26)

Observation #5 A key to having our lives delivered is to obey the government. 1 Peter 2:13 This obedience is to all levels of government. 1 Peter 2:14

Observation #6 We obey government "for the Lord's sake" and because it is the Lord's will. 1 Peter 2:13, 15

Observation #7 Our good works in obedience give strong evidence in our defense. 1 Peter 2:15-16 Christians are often accused of being opposed or disloyal to human government.

Observation #7 Peter did not seem to think that Christians were social revolutionaries

1 Peter 2:17 A general respect for all men is deepened into a love for the brotherhood; the fear of God is extended to honoring the king.

In summary, three great principles emerge... 1. We are to maintain the spirit of foreigners __________________________________ 2. We are to nullify the assault of fleshly lusts __________________________________ 3. We are to lay the basis for men to glorify the Lord because of our lives
