Summary of the 6.2 Fall of Mali For this part just listen.

Cause 1: Weak Leader (s) (Write what's in red) Mali was great and strong until disaster occurred with the son of a great leader named Mansa Musa. Mali's success depended on strong leaders like Mansa Musa who was cause of the rise of Mali. Mansa Musa died, son took over. (Son) Maghan, sadly not strong leader. Not all of Mali’s leaders were strong. Weak leaders, weakens empire.

Reason 2: Too large to control Empire also fell because of size. Too large, government couldn't control. Parts of empire started to break away. City of Gao declared independence in 1400s.

Cause 3: Invaders When Mansa Musa died and son took over, invaders attacked and Maghan unable to stop them. Raiders set fire to Timbuktu's great schools and mosques. Empire weakened. In 1431 invaders called Tuareg nomads attacked, took over Timbuktu. More of Mali started break away. 1500 small part of Mali remained.
