2 Purpose Results for Review Spreadsheet results for each year (2005-2009) Time series graphs of trends in surface area Time series graphs of trends in volume Intra-annual trends in both surface area and volume This presentation is intended to provide material for a review of the results, for the last 5 years (2005-2009), of surface area and volume measurements for the Keban Reservoir. The approach for reviewing these results will include the following:
3
3 Results Spreadsheet 2005-09 Open the Excel spreadsheet titled Keban_2005_09_res.xls, found in the “Results” folder. Evaluate the trends in surface area and volume within and between years. Note the acquisition dates and how they relate between years.

4 Results – Surface Area
5
5 Results – Volume
6
6 Results Summary –Take some time to write a brief paragraph or two summarizing the trends you see in both inter-annual surface areas and volumes. Some things to consider: Which year/years showed the greatest surface area/volume? Which year/years showed the least? Do these trends coincide with your knowledge of the variability in water resources during these years (i.e. do years with greater volume in storage match years with lower flows into Iraq)? What are your impressions of the timing of peak storage and discharge? (keeping in mind that the timing of estimates is not exact between years) Other?

12 Conclusion Summary –We’ve evaluated the results for trends in inter-annual surface area and volume measurements during the last five years. Intra-annual variability in each measure was also assessed. Discussion –Group evaluation of trends and results –Discuss how these measurements can be used in assessing water supply. –Discuss how this information will be incorporated into our water balance assessments. –What role does reservoir storage play in our stream flow modeling?
