Project Wisdom Stone Networking using MiWi Done By: Amnon Balanov & Yosef Solomon Supervisor: Boaz Mizrachi Project ID: d02310
2
Project Wisdom Stone Small sensors, with very low power consumption Planted under roads Performing monitoring of road maintenance status
3
Project Wisdom Stone Based on a PIC24 micro-processor Networking (two alternatives): o 2.4 GHz enabled by a MRF24J40 IEEE 802.15.4 Tx/Rx. o 433 MHz enabled by a MRF49XA Tx/Rx. Networking will run MiWi (Microchip propriatory S/W stack) ***All components are made by Microchip.
4
Project Goals The design and implementation of a networking S/W stack who’s functions will be: 1. Transmissions of aquired data to Hub unit 2. Inter-Sensor Communications 3. WAKE interrupts from sleep - for sensing sessions
5
System I/O Tx/Rx Communications with the Hub unit Communications with other units microSD memory chip Stores aquired data PIC interrupts Wake/Transmission interrupts

Estimated Schedule Software Development (8 weeks- two Parts 4 and 4)- Writing code for: 1. Networking on MiWi (4 weeks) 2. A Simple Scheduler for the PIC (2 weeks) 3. microSD protocol enabling memory reads (2 weeks) *The two parts are micro-architecture and API development, and will each be four weeks long. ***After the first part of writing the micro-architecture we will hold the midterm presentation. Debugging O/B (2 weeks)- Testing all of the main functions on the Explorer 16 Development Board with MRF24J40MB PICtail extension Outdoors Testing (1 week)-Testing the network capabilities under simulated conditions. Est. Total: 11 weeks.
