4 Analysis: Car Features Contribution to Safety: Mass
Can be good or bad depending on a situation. Lower mass helps a car avoid an accident because of less inertia, but may allow fatalities if the accident occurs. Center of Mass Higher center of mass allows vehicles to roll over easier Tires and Brakes Tires vary in cars, and that affects breaking distance, as does brake quality. Frame Heights Lower heights makes passengers more vulnerable to injury and death when hit by a vehicle with a taller frame. Front-end stiffness Stiffer front ends cause more damage to other vehicles with less-stiff from ends Rood Stiffness Stiffer roofs protect passengers during a rollover accident.
