Computer Lab Use and Scheduling Please schedule through your department head. Denise and I will coordinate. Remember that there are basically 36 weeks (minus a few weeks for TAKS and Counselors scheduling) so divide that by Math, Science, English, Social Studies, Foreign Language, and Speech and you end up with about 6 weeks per group. I will make copies of the schedule available as soon as possible.
8
If you have scheduled the lab it is your responsibility to remember and plan accordingly. If it gets close to your scheduled date and you know you will not be using the lab please let me know so I can offer the lab to someone else. Make sure you have turned in your scheduling form. You can leave it in my mailbox.
9
The lab is an extension of your classroom. When you are scheduled in the lab you are in charge of your students. If another teacher sends a student to the lab without making prior arrangements with you it is up to you whether the student may remain in the lab to work.

Email Etiquette
11
Do Include a Subject - Make it relevant, avoid words like free, money, or all caps or it might be deleted as spam
12
Do Use BCC (Blind Carbon Copy) - Protect others’ email addresses Outlook Express – Open a new message; click View; click All Headers. The BCC line automagically appears and will be available for all messages Thunderbird – Select BCC in the To drop-down box
13
Don't Reply to Spam - Even to unsubscribe – that just confirms they have a live email address
14
Don't forward virus hoaxes and chain letters - The Nigerian Ambassador that wants you to forward the chain letter, give him your bank account number, or check your PayPal account will not cause a cute character to run across your screen or send you a gift certificate to AppleBees.
15
Don’t send jokes and other “fun” email during the school day. Save those for after 4:00.
16
Don't use email to discuss confidential information - If you wouldn't want to see it on the front page of the newspaper – don't send it. There is no such thing as privacy on the internet – get over it.
17
Don't send libelous, sexist or racially discriminating comments in emails, even if they are meant to be a joke. Using email to harass others in a sexual, racial or other manner violates civil rights laws.
18
Don't request delivery and read receipts - It will most likely annoy the recipient even before they read it and usually doesn't work anyway.
19
Do Clean out your email account - If you wouldn't keep it as a paper record, you probably don't need to keep the email
20
Don't Use all caps in your message unless you mean it - It is the equivalent of SCREAMING
21
Do Use care with the Reply All Button - If I send a picture of a drooling baboon to a friend and they forward it to six of their friends, one of who happens to be Denise who types “that reminds me of Dee Martin and then clicks Reply All – I'm going to get a copy and see what she said (and so will everyone else)
22
Don't open attachments without checking - Contact the sender to see if they really sent it. All it takes is one mistake and a virus can mail itself out to everyone in your address book and so on....

Computer Maintenance Process Is it Smoking? Yes No Plugged in? Yes Turn everything off, wait a second, turn it back on No Plug it in No Does it work? Yes Unplug it, notify me I will put in a work order Notify me – I will check it. If I can't fix it PHS
26
If you are having problems with your computer: Check to see if all connections are plugged in. If everything is plugged in and you are having problems: Shut everything completely down Wait a moment, Turn it all back on.
27
If your computer is still having problems contact me. If I can't fix it I will put in a work order. If I am not available try Denise Kornegay. If a work order has been put in remember that Josiah covers all campuses and there may be a delay. If you need to do e-attendance or Gradebook, you can usually log on any computer that has the programs installed and take care of it that way.
28
* Hint - If your computer is waiting for repairs you can check your email via webmail. Logon to any computer and from the internet go to http://www.parisisd.net/intranet/ There is a link to webmail at the top of the page. You will need the password that was originally used to set up your email to login.
29
* Hint – if you are getting ready to enter a lot of grades, click on My Computer and make sure the G drive is listed. If it is not – go through the shut down, turn back on procedure. Click on My Computer again – if G drive still doesn't show up, contact me before entering grades. This will save you from a lot of double work. If you don't have a G drive – you are not actually writing anything to Gradebook.
