Welcome to Charlotte! Welcome to Charlotte, North Carolina! Settled in 1809 Charlotte has grown and developed into one of the largest and most beautiful states in the south. Home to beautiful weather and wonderful people Charlotte is a city that everyone should experience.

Charlotte Today Charlotte is the largest city in North Carolina with about 775,202 people according to the 2012 Census. Charlotte is fortunate enough to have lovely weather year round while still maintaining four distinct seasons. Our winters average around 42 °F while our summers average around 84 °F. Charlotte Today Charlotte reflects American diversity and embraces it in a positive way. We are made up of a 41% Caucasian, 35% African America and 13% Hispanic and 5% Asian population.

Charlotte Today Charlotte is home to the NFL’s Carolina Panthers which lead by quarterback Cam Newton currently hold an impressive 6-3 record. The NBA’s Bobcats, owned by Michael Jordan, also call Charlotte home and play in a state of the art facility.

Charlotte Today Today Charlotte is considered an open minded city that is willing to support either party. In part due to this we were asked to host the 2012 Democrat National Convention featuring: President Obama, Vice President Biden and the Clintons

Our History Charlotte is a young and growing city and has a history that is more relatable to those use to a calmer lifestyle. People moved to the area search for gold and silver and was the top area to search for gold before America’s expansion west. Charlotte was once where money was printed.

Our History Being part of North Carolina, our city was involved in the War of Northern Aggression on the side of the Confederates. It was during the end of the war that Charlotte saw its first population boom thanks to a railroad hub and cotton processing center. The population rose to around 7,000.

Our History Charlotte went under the radar during the industrial era but still took advantages of the advances. We used steel to build our buildings, railroads to connect us with the rest of the world and electricity to light our city. During this time our city faced the worst of mother nature being directly hit with Hurricane Hugo.

Why Charlotte? Charlotte is an easy pick to host the Olympics for 3 reasons. 1. Weather- Where other seasons may have some nice seasons we have preferable weather all year with not to hot summers and not to cold winters. 2. Looking to the future- While other cities may be larger than us now there population growth can not match our. We are quickly gaining both people and businesses alike. 3. Transportation- Charlotte is home to one of the finest public transportation systems in the world. Ran by the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS).
