5 Quick Quiz Quiz: Prepositional Phrases, Verbs, and Subjects in Sentences In each of the sentences below, cross out the prepositional phrases, underline the main verb once and its subject twice. Example: The tall thin man in the yellow hat took Curious George for a walk in the park. Dog- walkers in the park were not so happy with the presence of the monkey scampering up the trees and swinging from limb to limb. On the other hand, the many school children in the park that day took delight in the din created by barking dogs, the chattering monkey, squawking birds, and the man in the yellow hat chasing the monkey. The teachers of the children immediately began to worry about the prospect of the children acting like monkeys on the MAX train on the way home.
