Since 2014, there have been no national KS3 levels to record attainment and student progress through KS3 programmes of study. The KS3 programmes of study for each subject have been divided into KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) in knowledge, understanding and skills that students will be expected to develop in preparation for their KS4 course. The standards and progress of students at KS3 will be reported termly.

KS3 assessment 2015 onwards Up to 40 different methods of assessing at KS2 Head of Transition action = find out the different methods for our partner primary schools. CATs undertaken in year 6 2 forms of information available on entry. KCSP schools will have common assessment framework Initial setting will be done prior to entry into year 7. Parents notified. Baselines undertaken in each subject – not levelled but… Top sets remain as SI1 +ST1 Other sets are dependent on the ability of the cohort.

Mastering Secure Developing Emerging Skills, knowledge and understanding are embedded and can be applied confidently beyond the classroom and subject area. The student is demonstrating some knowledge required for the academic year above. Skills, knowledge and understanding are embedded and can be applied confidently within the subject area. The student is demonstrating knowledge appropriate for the year group. Skills, knowledge and understanding are developing. The student is demonstrating some knowledge appropriate for the year group and developing in other aspects. Some added intervention may be required to support them. Skills, knowledge and understanding are emerging at the basic standard expected for the year group, or below. Students at this level are likely to require significant intervention to support them. Appropriate to the expectations of the student’s year group In this context, intervention could include: adapted curriculum, setting, class pedagogy, in-class support, extra time, extra practice, differentiated activities and ‘Whoosh’ club.
