One-third of employees in the US feels overworked or overwhelmed Women feel more overworked than men Baby boomers feel more overworked than Generation X, Y and mature workers Managers and professionals feel more overworked than others. When employees feel overworked, it’s detrimental to everyone—workers, employers, and families

I feel overwhelmed most of the day I can’t find time to reflect on my work and life I spend much of my time multitasking I spend time outside of work on work-related matters I’ve cut down on my vacation time People tell me I look tired I feel guilty saying NO I’m totally disorganized

5 5 8 WAYS TO OVERCOME OVERLOAD 1.Take control 2.Prioritize 3.Set limits 4.Get organized 5.Make time for yourself 6.Connect with friends and family 7.Manage information overload 8.Be healthy

10 10 #5 MAKE TIME FOR YOURSELF Find unstructured time to relax Let people know the importance of alone time Take a day from work to do something you enjoy Have part of the weekend without errands and chores

11 11 #6 CONNECT WITH FAMILY & FRIENDS Have a life outside of work Schedule family time with no TV, phone, computer, or other distractions Schedule couple time Maintain friendships Find activities and interests to share with friends

12 12. #7 MANAGE INFORMATION OVERLOAD Stick to priorities by minimizing distractions. Create computer folders and clean out old e-mails once a week. Reduce the amount of incoming information. Set times to review and respond to e-mail. Have separate addresses for work and personal e-mail Put articles in a brief case to review during down times Have time away from technology every day
