Doxology Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below; Praise Him above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.— Amen.

The Book of Proverbs Chapter 3 Prov 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your Heart, Pt. 13

III. Faith Resting in God is Developed through Different Kinds of Trust.

A. Compliant Trust. B. Confident Trust. C. Courageous Trust. D. Conquered or Surrendered Trust. E. Cultivated or Learned Trust. F. Committed Trust. G. Compelling or Strong Trust. H. Convinced Trust. I. Compact Trust.

J. Composed or Calm Trust Composed, “calm, serene; or self-possessed, (behaving in a calm and confident way).”

Calm, “not excited or agitated; composed, quiet, serenity, tranquility and peace.”

Calm, “not excited or agitated; composed, quiet, serenity, tranquility and peace.” Serene, “unruffled, tranquil and dignified.”

It is exercising a Relaxed Mental Attitude (RMA) towards other people or the situations and problems of life as you trust in the Lord.

It is the absence of mental attitude sins towards those you know or do not know, friends or enemies, i.e., Impersonal Love.

It is the absence of subjectivity in life, where instead you have Divine viewpoint towards all things. 2 Sam 16:11-12; Neh 8:9-12; Heb 4:10-11

John 14:27, “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.”

The battle is turned over to the Lord, the problems, the trials, and the difficulties that you face, all are turned over to Him. Ex 14:13-14

The beauty of “C.T.” is the ability to derive strength from the peace that comes by simply faith-resting in Him. Psa 23; Psa 131:2; Isa 12:2; Rom 5:1-3

Isa 12:2, “Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; for the LORD GOD is my strength and song, and He has become my salvation.”

Psa 131:2, “Surely I have composed and quieted my soul; like a weaned child rests against his mother, my soul is like a weaned child within me.”

Wives are to express “Composed trust” when dealing with their husbands, 1 Peter 3:4.

1 Peter 3:4, “But let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God.”

Praying for your government leaders is a demonstration of composed trust that results in a peaceful life, 1 Tim 2:1-2.

K. Clear-Headed Trust Clear-Headed, “having a clear orderly mind, to be able to think in a sensible and calm way. E.g., lucid, perceptive, logical, realistic, etc.”

“Clear-Head Trust” means that you are able to cycle doctrine through your soul in time of pressure and chaos. Rom 12:2-3; Eph 4:22-24

Problems, difficulties, and trials have a tendency to create confusion and cloud our thinking. Reliance on the Lord clears the fog. Psa 13:3-6; 19:8; 119:105; Isa 50:6-7

Psa 19:8, “The precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.”

Psa 119:105, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”

John 16:13, “But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.”

Paul exhorted all to have “clear-headed” trust in the Lord, Titus 2:6, 11-12-13.

Titus 2:6, “Likewise urge the young men to be sensible, (SOPHRONEO).”

In 1 Thes 5:6-8 we are exhorted to of “sober mind” (NEPHEO, “to be sober, to be calm and collected in spirit”), “clear headed”, so that we can cycle and apply God’s Word in Faith-Rest.

To have “clear-headed” trust we must first examine ourselves, then through the Balance of Residency we can have sober faith-rest, Mat 7:5; Eph 5:18; 1 Peter 1:13; 5:8.

Mat 7:5, “You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.” Cf. Luke 6:42

1 Peter 1:13, “Therefore, prepare your minds for action, keep sober (clear-headed) in spirit, fix your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.”

1 Peter 5:8-9, “Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 9 But resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brethren who are in the world.”
