Facts Nearly 14 million people in the United States--1 in every 13 adults--abuse alcohol and/or are alcoholic. 22% of American adults are former drinkers. Every day, more than 700,000 people in the U.S. receive treatment for alcoholism. 40% of children who start drinking before the age of 15 will become alcoholics at some point in their lives, compared with 25% for those who begin drinking at age 17, and about 10% for those who begin drinking at ages 21 and 22.

Facts 65% of youth surveyed said that they got the alcohol they drink from family and friends. Traffic crashes are the greatest single cause of death for persons aged 6–33. About 45% of these fatalities are in alcohol- related crashes. Alcohol kills 6½ times more youth than all other illicit Concerning the past 30 days, 50% of high school seniors report drinking, with 32% report being drunk at least once. 2 drugs combined.
