MULTIMEDIA The combination of multiple media to express ideas is called multimedia. i.e., multimedia is a combination of text, graphics, images, video, audio, etc. to express ideas in more attractive manner. Now a day Multimedia is very useful in various field such as Education, Advertisement, Animation Film, etc.

Devices used in Multimedia: The device, which is used to giving instruction to the computer system is called input device. Keyboard, mouse, scanner, camera, light pen, joystick, touch sensitive monitor etc. are some examples of input device used in multimedia. The device, which is used to getting the output/result from the computer system is called output device. Monitor, printer, speaker etc. are some example of output device used in multimedia.

Various component of Multimedia are as follows: Textual information. Images. Bitmap images. Vector images. Animation. Digital Audio. Digital Video. Cont…

Textual information: All multimedia productions contain at least some amount of text. The text can have various types of fonts and sizes to make a production effective and attractive. Images: Graphics are an important and interesting components of multimedia. People take more interest an pictorial/graphical form of data in respect of reading textual matter. Images can be described in two different ways. They are: Bitmap images. Vector images Cont…

Animation: An animation is a continuous series of still images that displayed in a sequence. There are two types of animation used in multimedia. 2-D animation. 3-D animation Digital video: it is one of the ways to play back and record video in multimedia program. Quality of images does not degrade from copy to copy.

Communicational technology and multimedia services: Basic television services. Interactive entertainment. Digital video. Video on demand. Home shopping through e- mail. Financial transactions using e-commerce. Interactive single and multi-user games. Digital multimedia libraries. Electronic versions of newspapers, magazines etc. Cont…

Cable TV and telephone companies, dot companies, publishing industry etc. are the male infrastructure provides for these facilities. A computer- based multimedia conference allows us to exchange audio, text, image, and even video information. Voice mail: Voice mail is a tool, which communicates voice over a line. The voice mail is time and location independent. Cont…

Electronic mail: e-mail is very useful for exchange information quickly and easily. E-mail is time and location independent. It is non-interactive. Multimedia based FAX: It can be used to send detailed information. It is easier to use. It handles graphic information. It provides a printed copy of information.

Various techniques for animation in multimedia: An animation is a continuous series of still images that displayed in a Sequence. There are two types of animation used in multimedia: 2 – D animation. 3 – D animation. Cont…

2-D Animation 2-D animation is also known as cel animation or pixel based animation. It is the most common kind of animation, where flat images are drawn one frame at a time. A 2-D animation package provides facility to tweening, morphing, warping, etc. which helps to develop an application easily and quickly, with special effects. Tweening: the animation creation of a series of graphics frames between two previously created frames is called tweening. Cont…

Morphing: Morphing takes two images and seamlessly change to another. The second image actually seems to grow out of the first one. Morphing can also be used to show the pace of changes more clearly than photos. Warping: Warping is variation of the morphing where one images is used to show various changes that take place. It uses the key points of one image to create different effects, instead of mixing up two images.

3-D Animation In 3-D animation, mathematical modal of 3-D object is created to realistically portray with depth. 3-D animation is very commonly used in film, video and multimedia package. 3-D animation follow three steps: modeling, animation and rendering. Modeling is the design phase where a 3-D object is created. A 3-D object has length, breadth along with depth. A 3-D object can be made more realistic by using proper colour, shading and light source. Cont…

In second phase, the 3-D image is moved along a motion path. The motion path is defined by using key frames of the animation sequence. These key frames are used to create the in between frames in the sequence automatically. In the third phase, the entire sequence is rendered to create a 3-D animation.
