DATA COMMUNICAION What is Data Communication What is a Network What is E-learning
3
Data Communication concerns the transmission of digital messages to devices external to the message source.
4
A Network is a system that provides its users with unique capabilities, above and beyond what the individual machines and their software applications can provide.
5
LAN-Local Area Network A LAN is a computer covering a small physical area, like a home, office, or a small group of buildings, such as a school, or an airport.
6
WAN-Wide Area Network A WAN is a computer network that covers a broad area (i.e. any network whose communication links cross metropolitan, regional, or national boundaries). A WAN is a network that uses routers and public communication links.
7
MAN-Metropolitan Area Network A MAN is a network that connects two or more local area networks or campus area networks together but does not extend beyond the boundaries of the immediate town/city. Routers, switches and hubs are connected to create a metropolitan area network.
8
Networking provides social contact and stimulation. A job may be specifically created for you based on an employer’s requirement. Networking is a two way process that can enable you to help others.
9
While networking is a very effective technique one must always be aware of the possibility of indiscreation. Choose your contacts wisely and ensure that you maintain confidentiality at all times. Networking can be a waiting game where you have to wait it out patiently for the right opportunity or the right contact to come available.
10
The term E-learning represents the concept of using computers and information technology to teach and to learn.
11

12
Unmotivated learners or those with poor study habits may fall behind. Students may feel isolated or miss social interaction. Slow or unreliable Internet connections can be frustrating.
