Write and graph linear equations in slope-intercept form

In pairs: Complete the “Investigating Slope- Intercept Form” activity You will have 10 minutes to finish the activity This will be counted as an in-class grade based on accuracy

EquationTwo SolutionsSlopey-intercept

Using your completed table… Write a generalization about the meaning of m and b in the equation slope y-intercept

Where a line crosses the y-axis. Organization Check: We can now graph an equation in three different ways: 1.Using an x, y table 2.Using x-intercepts, y- intercepts 3.Slope-intercept form

Write the equation in slope- intercept form, then graph. m = b =

m = b = Write the equation in slope- intercept form, then graph.

m = b = Write the equation in slope- intercept form, then graph.

m = b = Write the equation in slope- intercept form, then graph.

m = b = Write the equation in slope- intercept form, then graph.

m = b = Write the equation in slope- intercept form, then graph.

m = b = Write the equation in slope- intercept form, then graph.

Use this time to get up, stretch out, relax, talk to a neighbor, or try the following rebus puzzles… Three blind mice (no I’s) Overall

First, plot your boats on the coordinate plane and write the ordered pairs that goes with each boat. Second, start thinking of 5 “y = mx + b” equations. These are going to be what you use to try and sink your opponents’ ships. With your partner: Student A reads the equation of their first torpedo. Student B graphs the torpedo on the coordinate plane containing his boats. Student A verifies that Student B graphed the equation correctly. If the torpedo hits a ship, both students refer to their worksheet and complete a box for the boat. Students switch roles. Continue until each student reads the equations of all five torpedoes.

Homework: pg. 244 #13-33 (every other odd) Write the equation in slope-intercept form, then graph. m = b =

Reviewing Graphing with Intercepts and Parallel Lines

m = b = Write the equation in slope-intercept form, then graph.

m = b = Write the equation in slope-intercept form, then graph.

Two different lines in the same plane are parallel if they do not intersect.

Lines are parallel if they have the same _______.

y = 2x + 3 y = 3 + 2x

y = -2x + 3 y = 3 + 2x

-x + 2y = 6 -x +2y = -2

You will be assigned a partner to work with in the computer lab. Once you have set-up your players and your game, you will switch off who solves each problem. Your lead role: If you are solving the problem, show all of your work. In addition, you must graph every problem. If you are giving the assist, you must help your partner solve their problem and double-check their work as they go. Switch roles! Warning! The refs are strict in this game! Stay on task so you don’t get ejected and have to solve problems on your own!
