Tories bka loyalist= remain loyal to King Why? 1. King owns & provides for colony (father to child) 2.fear for family’s safety in england 3.fear military 4.GA still dependent on King $ Whigs bka Patriots, Liberty Boys, Sons & Daughters of liberty=want independence Why? 1. paying taxes other citizens don’t 2.don’t have the same rights as citizens in England 3.*no representation in Parliment

1 st Continental Congress send a resolution Objectives: 1. demand same rights as British citizens in GB 2. vs. Intolerable Acts (did not agree w/ Rights & Privileges of an Englishman)

Provincial Congress (Ga only) Objective: cut or remain ties w/King George III

2 nd Continental Congress Objectives: 1. send a resolution to King George asking stop unfriendly actions 2. create a Continental Army (George Washington)

Participation in War Whites were to be paid but due to low funds; received land Blacks-(except GA and SC) recruited and offered freedom to fight with British.
