3 Introduction Pack your bags and say “See you soon!” to your family. You are about to take a trip to a land far away – Egypt! Along your journey you will track and fill in your own map to bring back and share with the class. While on vacation you will be working with a partner. One of you will be the photographer (to bring us back pictures) and one the cartographer (to fill in the map information). You must work together to find information and cool pictures (related to your topic) to share and complete our own large map back here in the classroom.

4 Task The class will be split into 10 groups of partners. Each group will be given two topics related to our large blank class map of Egypt. Partners must find/share facts on the two topics, be able to locate and place them on their own map as well as our class map, and bring back pictures to share with the class. You may be traveling to cities, deserts, bodies of water, neighboring countries, or have topics related to our map in some other way. Don’t forget your sunglasses!

6 Process Before you set off on your journey I will show you how I found my topic - Sudan, and the information I gathered there. Then I will locate Sudan on our class map, share some interesting facts I found, chart it on the map, and place a picture on the map as well. Photographer – Find 4 or 5 interesting pictures of each topic to share with us and then we will choose one for our map. Cartographer – Find the exact location of both of your topics, chart it on your map, and be prepared to chart it on our class map as well. Both – While on your journey find some interesting facts about your topics to share with the class as we fill in our classroom map!

10 Conclusion Congratulations on your return! I hope your journey through Egypt was a fun adventure! You are now ready to share and teach us what you have learned. As a team you and your partner will locate your topics on our large, blank class map of Egypt. The cartographer will fill them in, and the photographer will show us the pictures. You will both share some interesting facts you have learned on your journey and add the favorite picture to our map. Please reflect on your journey to Egypt : What did you like about this journey? What did you learn? What was most interesting or surprising? What was something you did NOT like about your journey? What would you like to learn about using this WebQuest method again? Any suggestions?
