Hospital and St Catherine Chapel is a Baroque monument in Jaroměřice nad Rokytnou. It can be found a short way far from the bridge over the Rokytná river.
4
History The current appearance comes from 1672. Jan Kreutz (Crux), steward of Jan Antonín of Questenberk, had it built. Jan Václav Achantes consecrated it. For a long time it was the only building on the right bank of the Rokytná. Between it and the river there was a large garden. On the other side of it there was a cloister and Loretto Chapel. Behind the Chapel there was a yard and farm buildings.
5
Interior The interior of the hospital divides the cloister into four parts: the first two have economic importance (a kitchen and a pantry), two were bedrooms (one for six men, the other for six women), each with a window directly into the naval chapel for the sick to watch the Holy Mass and services. The hall is paved, vaulted and leads to the chapel.
6
Shapes The chancel is an octagon. The sides of the square are 3.55 m long, sides of the main axis of 3.4 m and the sides instead of corners are 1.5 m. The walls hold a dome with a lantern.
7
Chapel The main altar with a bricked sacrificial table is in the front. The portrait of St Catherine is a part of it. There is a big cross above that. There are black colums on the sides. A shrine with a small white cross is on the altar. Between the chancel and the nave there was a pulpit in 1813.
