UN System Joint Efforts in Advancing Gender Equality in China UN Trust Fund to End Violence Against Women  Ca. 25% of Chinese women have been abused, assaulted, restricted in their personal freedom, economically controlled, and/or forced to have sex in intimate partner relationships  4 UN Agencies jointly implemented a program to prevent and respond to domestic violence in China through a multi-sectoral approach  Multi-Sectoral Domestic Violence Response Model has been established in Ningxiang (Hunan), Jingyuan (Gansu) and Yilong (Sichuan) Domestic Violence is an absolute violation of basic civil rights Preventing and Responding to Domestic Violence through Multi-Sectoral Cooperation

UN Series of Equity Papers Gender and Equity Paper Gender and Equity Paper as part of the UN Series of Equity Papers  Focus of paper: Economic benefits to society gained through gender equality  Paper is being written by two Chinese experts, one economist and one gender expert  Paper to be finished in September
