3 Welcome to Intensive Reading Welcome to Wharton High School, home of the Wildcats. My name is Diana Bell. Educational background-USF, UF & USM I am certified to teach K-6 & English grades 6-12. I also have completed my ESOL Endorsement, Reading Endorsement and Gifted Certification classes. I am also a certified Clinical Educator, a teacher of teachers. In addition, I am a district trainer for the Read 180 Program. Lastly, I have my Master’s degree in Curriculum & Instruction.

4 Read 180-IR II & IR A Blocked classes for 100 minutes of instructions which means you’ll be with me two ‘periods’ back-to-back. Class format: Bellwork/Whole Group-novels & Rbook Rotations: Small Group Independent Reading Computer Center Wrap-up/Whole Group

5 Helping Your Student Each student needs a one-inch binder. Activate & use edline.net (more info to come soon). Ask him or her about reading homework.

6 Homework Reading homework every night for 20 minutes. Finish up by filling out Reading Logs. Reading Logs are due on Friday. Quarter 2=25 minutes. Quarter 3=30 minutes. Quarter 4=35 minutes. There will occasionally be other homework in addition to the reading logs & these vary. How will you know?

7 www.edline.net All of us at Wharton utilize a fantastic tool called Edline. We post grades in Edline (my content-private reports). We post assignments and due dates in Edline (calendar &/or folders). We post important links in Edline (E-reads). Sometimes students will use Edline to take a quiz or survey. Students may need to submit homework through the Edline drop-box.

8 Activation Codes I have printed out Activation Codes for all of the parents. We can go over to the computer center in a moment & enter your activation codes. Entering codes-not case-sensitive (Caps or not=okay) You don’t have to type in the dashes. Your username cannot have spaces or punctuation. Questions? Let’s go activate accounts!!
