Read the Kansa Story of Creation on page 26. As a class act out the story. One person reads the story while the others perform the actions. What does this say about how the Kansa viewed their past?

What sent them south? What did they hunt? How was the climate of Kansas different from how it is today? What don’t we know about them? What one interesting thing do we know about them?

Read the article on Page 29 of the textbook. How do archaeologists decide how ancient people use to live? What is relative dating? What is absolute dating? What does the word “infer” mean?

With a partner read the chart. Decide on an interpretation for the clues for Posthole pattern and Digging tools. Share with the class.
