The 3 Appeals in Persuasive Language Persuasive writers and speakers work to affect you in these areas: Ethos - ethical or moral (sense of right or wrong) Pathos – emotional or feelings (tugging on your heart strings) Logos - logical or mental (if it makes sense then you need it)

Now it’s time to watch more videos… So that we can become more familiar with how persuasive language is used in speeches, movie trailers and commercials! Record the examples you hear of persuasion on the graphic organizer

Now I’d like you to get in small groups… Time for your independent practice You’re going to write short scripts and present them, by working with your group to write a persuasive presentation about an issue Here’s your issue (you will receive a sheet)!

15 minutes later and it’s time… For groups to present! You have 2-3 minutes to get your point across in an effective way Remember the examples we saw on video, that should help you!
