2 Background Hepatitis B and HIV Coinfection Hepatitis B Prevalence in SSA Botswana HIV Treatment Guidelines Methods Retrospective review of the EMR Patients between the ages of 18 to 80 were screened for Hepatitis B (HBsAg) from 2005 to 2009 HBSAg results from 268 patients

3 Results Overall HBsAg Prevalence: 5.2% Transaminitis: 3/14 (21.4%)

4 Conclusion Limitations –Retrospective Study –HBsAg testing only –Female Predominance Botswana-Specific Context: –Significant Prevalence –Access to resources –Availability of TDF/FTC in public sector (1 st line) Routine HBsAg screening as part of the Botswana National HIV Guidelines
