2  A vector is any quantity that has magnitude (size) and direction.  A vector is used to describe translations.

3  Vectors can be written as an ordered pair   These are the components of the vector. 2 is the x component and -3 is the y component.  To find the magnitude of the vector use pythagorean theorem. √(2 2 + (-3 2 ))

5  To find the x component take the cosine of the angle formed from the vector and the x- axis and multiply it by the magnitude.  To find the y component take the sine of the angle formed from the vector and the x-axis and multiply it by the magnitude.
