Monday, March 18 th Daily Journal (3) Explain ONE thing that you learned about yourself and human trafficking from the websites. Senior English: 1.Daily Journal For the first 30 minutes of class you must finish the following: 1.Finish Re-writing letter to President Obama- look at example…letter must be 2-3 paragraphs in length. I want them to look good- I read them and they are appropriate and many are impressive! I will be mailing them out tomorrow! 2.Look at Free2Work Sites (free2work.org) ( write down your response concerning 3 of the companies that you have purchased from) 3.Slaveryfootprint.org app (reaction) 4.Submit: Letter to President Obama, Response to Free2Work, Slaveryfootprint Students who have turned in website responses: Jen, Daniel, Vanessa, Alicia, Kendra, Tayler, Natalie, Chelsea, Linwood, Juan, Sirena, Brittanie Students who have turned in FINAL copy of letter to Obama: Natalie, Kendra, Tevin, Matt, Alicia, Taylor At 1:30ish: Introduce Weebly design and expectations and organize groups Countries Chosen: Russia, Lebanon, Peru, Germany, Italy, France, China

Second Half of Class: 1. Introduce Weebly design and expectations and organize groups: members names and country Expectations For each webpage, the following must be included: a. Background information on the country This must include: location, demographics, import/export b. Types of slavery in that country and why they exist in that country c. One slave story d. 3-5 visuals (video, photography, art) that represent the country and forced labor e. Idea (proposal) to raise awareness/combat slavery in that country You can use the remainder of class to begin researching your country

Tuesday, March 19 th Daily Journal (5)- this will go into the 4 th marking period Which argumentation essay topic did you pick and why? A.P. Language and Composition: 1.Daily Journal-submit for credit 2.Period 2: Finish immigration presentations 3.Rough Draft of essay due- Self Edit today Thursday: I will be out due to a technology workshop. You will be Peer Editing your argumentation essay. Students taking the Smarter Balanced Pilot- go to ROOM S208: Period 2: Jesse, Zach, Carl, Madison, Paige, Jose Period 4: Kelvin, Brian, Georgie, Derek, Ian, Kunal, Nate, Tarek, Haley, Alexis, Kishana, Skye Everything we do from this week on…goes into the 4 th marking period.

Wednesday, March 20 th Daily Journal (4) Which country did you choose for your website design? Why? Senior English: 1.Daily Journal – it will be due at the end of the week and go into the 4 th marking period. Submissions on Monday: 2. Handout permission to view film for The Whistleblower 3. View additional documentaries on Human Trafficking 4. Read excerpt aloud from SOLD 5. Submit response to documentaries and SOLD 6. Review project assignment and expectations 7. Allow class the remainder of time to begin researching- we will begin designing on Thursday, March 28 th - you will have 1 days now and 2 when we return from vacation. Tuesday, March 26 th - will be a silent reading day! You need to bring your senior paper book

Every group must complete the following: 1. Letter to a world leader, U.N. representative or President/CEO of a corporation that you are concerned about… (each individual student must complete this)- these letters must be submitted by Tuesday, March 26th 2. Webpage Design (Group- 3 people to each group) You need to decide in the group who is doing what… For each webpage, the following must be included: a. Thursday, March 21 st Daily Journal (1) Who is your favorite character in your novel and why? A.P. Language and Composition: 1.Daily Journal- you need a new sheet (remember that this is also going into the 4 th marking period) 2.Peer Editing: You will need to have your rough draft “peer edited” by three people. 3.Your final essay with the following: Rough Draft, Self- Edit, Peer Edit (3) are due on MONDAY, MARCH 25 th - I will not be here that day but please turn it in ( I will leave a designated explanation for the substitute) 4.Do not forget that your reading check on your novel is on Wednesday, March 27th

Friday, March 22 nd Daily Journal (5) Explain ONE thing that you learned in class on Wed. either from the documentaries or the excerpt of SOLD. Senior English: 1.Daily Journal- submit for credit (this will be included in the 4 th marking period) 2.Watch The Whistleblower (based on the non- fictional novel) 3.Written Response to film/ email to Kathryn Reminder: Bring your book or a book for silent reading on Tuesday- do not forget because you will have an assignment to complete that day.
