1. Welcome to Maerdy Junior school By The School Council

2. The Maerdy Juniors logo n The Maerdy logo helps us to understand how to work together towards success. n It shows other people that we are proud and welcome to come to this school

3. Science Projects n We have lots of projects going on in school these are some of our Science work, such as n Year 3 n Year 4 Sound, light and materials n Year 5 Electricity and materials n Year 6 Light and plants

5. Our fruit and milk store n We have the fruit store because we want to keep our school healthy and fit ready for work. n We have oranges, bananas, apples,pears and we have cold cold milk to keep our bones strong

6. We also go on trips n We have been to Oak wood and it was really fun and all the rides were fantastic. n We also went to the university to work on our circus skills and we also went to arts and crafts to make cards and to finish it of we went to the planetarium to learn about the galaxy and it was brilliant.

9. Our Concerts n We think they are fun n We think they are enjoyable n Always worth seeing!!! n We really enjoy the acting n Doing funny voices for our characters n SINGING IS BRILL!!

11. Our school lockers n When we get in to year 6 we have our own locker to keep all our private possessions

12. The New School Climbing Wall n Our new climbing wall was the result of a community project n We are looking forward to the drier weather so that we can use it!! n It looks really fun and it also has a target board. n We can’t wait for the summer

14. School Playground n We have decided on the new school playground equipment for the new term. n We hope that this will be a success the same as our milk and fruit Tuck shop.

16. We’re Reading a Million Words in Wales n We have been asked to read a million words by the end of 2007 n We have diaries to help us to do this n Did you know in an average novel for Year 6 there are 25,000 words. n This means that if we read 4 books a month we will complete in less than a year!!!!!!

17. Competitions 2006/7 n We took part in designing a logo for a new valley radio station and 2 of our friends won a special morning designing professionally their logo. Let’s hope one of theirs gets picked! n Year 6 are taking part in the SAFE project and we are making a rap for a presentation evening in Ferndale Community School. n Year 6 will also be designing a logo for a recycling project. n The choir have visited Tievy House
