3 Clone? Natural clone Man-made clone Natural clone is one that occurs from the “parent ” in a natural form of cloning without human help. Man-made clone is one produced through human intervention( 介入 ). Judge which is which? --- 4 pictures on P10

4 Scientific Definition Cloning is the creation of cells or whole animals by using DNA from a single “parent”, not with the normal reproductive process. The clone has the same DNA to the “parent”.

5 How is a mammal clone produced? [P11]

6 What benefits can humans gain from cloning? Medical cloning could produce cures for serious illnesses in humans. Cloning plants can produce plants of similar quality for sale. Cloning plants can be useful for research on new plant species. Cloning can help save endangered animals.

7 What problems may arise when humans are cloned? Animal clones may develop the illnesses of older animals. Animal clones may die younger than the donor ( 供体 ) animals. Evil leaders may want to clone themselves to attain their ambitions. There are moral objections to cloning human beings.
