6 Reading Is Important But this isn’t a literature review: Read for purpose - to provoke thinking and enable more sophisticated interpretations

7 Putting reading to use You have read and engaged with the article on parents evenings. Find things to be interested in… how will you use reading to extend the analysis of experiences ?

11 In groups explore the episodes which have formed part of the first refletions about your experiences in school – Pick out the key points and explain themes and tensions – why did you choose these ?

14 Putting Theory to Work The test of reading is whether it gives you new language and new concepts to take your own thinking one step further This is what we’re looking for!

15 Putting Theory to Work How can you reinterpret the lecture data using it? Can you revisit any of your stimuli stories in relation to it?

19 Developing your first few reflections Work together in pairs or threes to explore the substance of your pre- course task, and the ways in which this can be developed and add to your REAL.
