1 Rules and Procedures Mrs. Tucker’s 6 th Grade ELA Ruben Hinojosa Elementary

2 ARRIVAL Welcome! 7:45 – Teacher pick up in cafeteria 8:00 - Band begins 8:05 – Tardy bell *Breakfast is served in the cafeteria beginning at 7:00 AM

3 TARDIES By 8:05 AM, you must be in your homeroom classroom. Band students who are late MUST report to your homeroom class BEFORE band. 3 tardies in one grading period = 1 ABSENCE (NO PERFECT ATTENDANCE)

4 ABSENCES Excused Absences include : - Illness - Doctor’s visit - Visa appointments - Court appearances -Funeral *Other requests for excused absences must submitted in writing to Ms. Sarachene for approval.

5 Absence Excuses Note from parent Absence excuse form completed and signed by parent Phone call to school by parent * An absence excuse must be received by the school within 3 days of the absence, or the absence will be considered Unexcused.

6 Unexcused Absences If a student does not have an excused reason for being absent, then the absence will be considered unexcused. If a student does not turn in an absence excuse for a legitimate reason within 3 days, then the absence will be considered unexcused. Penalty for Unexcused Absences A student will not be allowed to make up any classwork for any days missed due to an unexcused absence. Therefore, a student will earn a zero for each graded assignment missed. Unexcused absence = ZEROS on classwork Warning: Students who earn zeros on graded classwork could lose their A/B Honor Rolls!

7 School Supplies 7:45 AM - Check supply list on board for Tucker’s class. Collect all required supplies in backpack (including paper and pencil). Sharpen your pencil before moving to 1 st period! Check Tucker’s board when you enter class, so you know which supplies you need to take out of your backpack. Make sure all supplies (including paper & pencil) are on/in your desk before the lesson begins. *Do NOT get into the habit of getting up from your desk to collect needed supplies during the lesson!

8 BACKPACKS Backpacks go at the BACK of the classroom, not under your desk or in your chair. A student or teacher can easily trip over a backpack that is not stored against the wall!

9 Class Rules RESPECT Read Participate Listen

10 Volume is too loud? GIVE ME 5!

11 BYOD All electronic devices must be stored in your backpack, turned OFF Do not take out your electronic device until the teacher gives your permission to do so. Only use your electronic device for the educational activity instructed by the teacher

12 Need a restroom break? 1.Wait until lecture is complete, unless it is an emergency. 2. Check to see if the pass is available. 3. Open your Agenda to today’s date. 4. Raise your hand using hand signal, and wait for teacher’s permission.

13 HOMEWORK Use your AGENDA to record your daily homework assignments. Failure to complete homework: 1. Student will sign his/her conduct folder on the correct date of the calendar, stating which assignment was not turned in. 2. Student will not be allowed to participate in recess during lunch. Repeated failure to complete homework will result in a parent conference.

14 HALLWAY PROCEDURES SINGLE FILE, STRAIGHT AND QUIET Shirts tucked in Remember, NO talking.

15 TESTING PROCEDURES ABSOLUTELY NO TALKING, PERIOD. Every student will use a testing divider. Teacher will monitor class and be available to assist.

16 DRILLS Fire Drills, Lock-Down, Weather Drills LINE UP in ALPHABETICAL ORDER
