4  These topics will be covered during the course:  Introduction to Databases  Database Environment  Entity Relationship  Enhanced Entity Relationship Modeling  The Relational Model  SQL: Data Manipulation Language  SQL: Data Definition Language

5  This course requires the student to demonstrate the following:  Define program-data independence, data models for database systems, database schema and database instances.  Identify Structure Query Language statements used in creation and manipulation of database.  Identify the modeling methodologies including conceptual(through Entity Relationship), logical, and physical model.  Develop and evaluate a real database application using a database management system.  Improve teamwork management and communication skills.

7  There will be a short quiz at the end of each lab period (except for the first week, and the weeks where tests occur).

8  Assignments will be released every week (Friday) and should be handed in the next (Monday).  Late submission will be on Tuesday (until 10:59 a.m.)  No sheet will be accepted after that time.  Cheating is prohibited; so if we caught any identical assignments both will take -10.

9  Please check the instructor’s website for course material and announcements.  Attendance is very important if you miss class more than 25% you will be forbidden to enter the final exam  If you’re late you may attend but you will be considered absent.  If you miss one of the major exams you will be not excused unless the instructor accepts your formal medical report.  This course requires constant studying.
