The Wonderful Wizard of Oz
Themes that are seen within the text

Friendship There are many examples of friendship as a theme in The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Friendship is a theme I see because it is seen throughout the book. The tin man saves his friends from the wolves in the book by chopping off their heads with his axe. He is willing to risk his life to help his friends. Another example of the theme of friendship is when the Lion and Dorothy go back to save the tin man and scarecrow. They could have continued on with their lives after killing the witch but instead they go back to save their friends.

Teamwork Teamwork is another theme in the book. Teamwork is seen throughout the text as well. Some of the scenes teamwork are shown in are when the characters must work together to kill the Wicked Witch. They must work together because she is a powerful character and they need to kill her to get what they want. Another example of teamwork is when Dorothy helps save the scarecrow from the river. This shows Teamwork because she is willing to work with the birds so everyone is safe and ok.

Caring In the book The Wizard of Oz, there are many signs of caring. First, Dorothy cares about her family very much and that is the only reason he is longing to get back to Kansas. When Dorothy is lost, hungry, and upset she still thinks about Aunt Em and Uncle Henry. That really shows that she cares about them and their well being. Another example of caring in the book is when Glinda (The good witch) leads Dorothy in the right direction instead of not telling her at all. Glinda cares about her to get home and go back to her family.

The End Those are some key themes Frank Baum put in the book The Wizard of Oz.
