You know that figures that have the same shape and size are CONGRUENT figures. Figures that have the same shape but not necessarily the same size are SIMILAR figures. Congruent Polygons Similar Polygons

They have common characteristics, but they are not similar. You can not enlarge or reduce a given rectangle to fit over every other rectangle. What do you think about other types of geometric figures such as squares, circles, and triangles?
