Definition of Wildfire A Wildfire is “a sweeping and destructive conflagration especially in a wilderness or a rural area” (Merriam-Webster) This is different from other severe weather because it can be directly caused by humans and it mainly just a huge fire.

Conditions Necessary for Wildfires Components: Dry Drought/ drought-like conditions Heat source (accidental fire, lightning, etc.) Fuel (trees, foliage, etc.) Wind

How Wildfires Happens Arson Campfires that are improperly put out Lightning strikes The right conditions at the right time (Fuel, heat source, oxygen)

How the Wildfire Affects Humans Wildfires can cause millions in damage. They can burn: Houses Trees Property People

Safety and Preparations for Wildfires Put out campfires completely Inspect your house at least twice a year Plant fire-resistant shrubs Make sure you have up-to-date smoke alarms Be prepared! Have a plan for emergencies! Wear protective clothing when in/near a wildfire
