1 Do Now Pick up this week’s vocabulary list and take it to your seat. Get your science composition book ready. We will be setting it up and decorating it today!

2 Composition Notebook Set-Up 6 th Grade Science Fall 2011

3 Page 1 Open your composition book to the first page and write a 1 in the bottom right hand corner. In the center of page 1, write your information: Your First and Last Name 6th Grade Science (or Pre-AP Science) Ms. Smith (or Mrs. Malone) Class Period # Fall 2011

4 After you finish writing your information on page 1, turn the page, and write a 2 in the bottom left corner of the back of page 1. This is page 2 It is on the back of page 1 Leave page 2 blank except for the page number. Page 2

5 Pages 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 will be Table of Contents pages. Write page numbers at the bottom corner of pages 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 now. Make your table of contents pages look exactly like the next slide…

9 Syllabus Write “Syllabus” at the top of the page. Tape or staple your syllabus to this page. It has 2 sides, so don’t glue it down! Use only 1 piece of tape (no longer than your pinky) or 1 staple You must fold your paper in half before attaching it. Don’t forget the page number at the bottom of the page! Page 9 9

10 Page 10 How to be Successful in 6 th Grade Science Write “How to be Successful” at the top of the page Tape or staple your syllabus to this page. It has 2 sides, so don’t glue it down! Use only 1 pinky-sized piece of tape or 1 staple! You must fold your paper in half before attaching it. Don’t forget the page number at the bottom of the page! 10

13 Lab Safety Rules Write the title “Lab Safety Rules” at the top of the page. Glue the lab safety rules to this page Use only 4 dots of glue – 1 for each corner Don’t forget the page number at the bottom! Page 13 13

14 Vocabulary for Quiz 1 Write the title “Vocabulary for Quiz 1” at the top of the page. Glue the vocabulary definitions to this page Use only 4 dots of glue – 1 for each corner! Don’t forget the page number at the bottom! Page 14 14

15 Outside Covers Use the rest of your class time to decorate the outside covers of your comp book with images from the provided magazines. Cut them out and glue them to the outside cover. Do not glue any images inside your comp book.
