First Day of School Welcome 8C – Champions!

How to enter the room… Come in silently. Sit in your assigned seat. You are tardy if you are not sitting at your desk and working when the bell rings. When you come in … Check the board for “Bellwork or DO NOW” work. Begin working. Make sure pencils are sharpened and materials are out.

When you leave class… You DO NOT pack up until you are instructed to do so. I will determine when class ends. Class goes from bell to bell. Remain in your seat until you are dismissed. When you are absent… Check the board for the agenda. Check the absent work folder in the classroom and check the website. Late work for reasons other than an excused absence will only receive 70% and will ONLY be accepted one week after the due date.

You MUST have a book to read with you every day. Our novel and another reading book with you at all time. It will be a homework grade on occasion. Do not leave your seat without raising your hand and asking permission. Do not get up to throw away trash until you leave. Pencils should be sharpened BEFORE class begins. If your pencil breaks, hold up your pencil and wait to be recognized. If you are caught cheating, you will receive a “0”. Parents will be notified. When I want your attention, I will give you a signal. At that time, I expect your full attention. If you finish your work early, keep your assignment with you until I ask for it to be passed in. Work quietly on another assignment or read your book. I understand the expectations for Mrs. Williams’ room and the school. Signed: ________________________________Date: ________

Fire Drill When the fire alarm rings, everyone is silent. Proceed in an orderly line out the exterior door and walk out the back doors towards the cafeteria. Then, proceed silently to the back field. I will follow in the rear to make sure ALL students have safely left the building. Be sure to remain silent. If you are caught in the hall or bathroom, proceed to the nearest exit and join your class. Fire drills are not a joke. Your cooperation and maturity is needed so that if a real emergency arises, everyone will exit the building in safety.

Lock Downs Assume every time a lock down is announced that it is the real thing. When a lock down announcement is called, become silent. Proceed to the corner of the room where the bookcases are. I will lock the door and turn our card from red to green to indicate we are safe. Remain silent for an “all clear” call.
