4. In Favor of Legalization So far 16 states have or are in the process of legalizing the marijuana for medical use. Those in favor continue to try to pursuade the other 34 states to enact the law for medical marijuana THC is the chemical in medical marijuana that gives the ultimate high and relief users are trying to find. Medical Marijuana can relieve painful stress that other painkillers just can’t do. Alcohol and tobacco are more dangerous as far as addicting and potency. If its growing in the ground, how can you make it illegal?

6. Opponents of Medical Marijuana Those opposed believe strongly that marijuana should still be considered a harmful drug. Not enough scientific research has been done to legalize this drug for medical purposes. Marijuana is a gateway drug that will lead to stronger drugs such as heroin, cocaine, meth, etc. If you legalize one drug, where do we stop?

7. What the solution?  Strict laws that make sure users have doctors signature.  Harsher penalties for those that break the law.
