Tanzanian Computer Project  Started in Fall 2008  Supporting schools near Arusha, Tanzania  Provided computers with internet access to schools lacking resources and funding George & Vickie Rock

Current Setup  2 schools have internet access  6 seats running off of 1 computer 6 User Multi-Seat System

Limitation of Current System  No audio at individual seats  Incorrect keyboard and mouse association

Our Project  Implement multiuser system at a 3 rd school  Minimize keyboard and mouse association errors  Provide audio capabilities for each seat at all three schools

Design Criteria  Low Cost  User Friendly  Low Maintenance  Withstand Hot Climate

MDM Overview  Software chosen to run multiple seats  Not an actual display manager  Install process and configuration files  Runs nested, virtual sessions

MDM 2048x768 1024x768

AUDRI  Assistive USB Device Registration Interface  Consists of  6 user hubs  1 communication hub

 Used for links between six seats and the communication hub  Consists of  2 LEDs  1 start/stop button  3 input jacks  2 audio output jacks User Hub

Communication Hub  Provides switching of keyboards and mice  12 inputs and12 outputs  6 keyboards and 6 mice  Contains microcontroller and circuit for communication

Audio  The Problem  By default, MDM only plays sound for one user at a time  Has to be configured with each seat  USB sound devices  Plugged into AUDRI communication box

USB Drives  Added feature for the customer  The problem  Not setup with default MDM installation  USB drives can only access one user at a time  Why use it?  Additional user functionality  Useful for teachers and students Teachers can distribute assignments Students can submit assignments
