CoRD, Task Force Meeting, May 2004 Aim of the project To achieve the widespread usage of standardised XML messages for the entire range of information flows of Foreign Trade (FT) statistics (transmission of INTRASTAT and EXTRASTAT declarations, of aggregated trade statistics and of responses to them, in the European Statistical System)

CoRD, Task Force Meeting, May 2004 Primary Objectives The development and maintenance of XML messages for FT statistics (INSTAT/XML, EXSTAT/XML, INSRES/XML): The completion of EXSTAT/XML standardisation The development of MIGs for aggregated trade statistics (starting from a business model) The maintenance of the use of the full suite of standardised EDIFACT messages The achievement of a satisfactory level regarding the actual usage of the developed messages for FT statistics among CNAs, through the implementation of training, support and promotion activities

CoRD, Task Force Meeting, May 2004 Current Status XML messages for the INTRASTAT declarations have been developed and are in use: SIM of Intrastat MIGs of INSTAT/XML and INSRES/XML messages are under examination; An XML version for the EXTRASTAT declarations is currently evolving (based on INSTAT/XML) SIM for Extrastat is completed XML Schemas of EXSTAT and EXRES will be soon submitted for approval First version of a business model for the exchange of aggregated trade statistics has been developed
