2. BAND: COURSE DESCRIPTION Band is a credit course Each 6-day cycle, Band students attend one lesson and two band rehearsals Band rehearsals take place period 9 (the “Music Period”) Lessons take place on a “pull-out” basis the same day of each cycle (but periods rotate)

3. Band Concerts Band presents two concerts each year: 1. Winter Concert: Thursday, January 15, 2015 2. Spring Concert: Thursday, May 14, 2015 - Concert participation is mandatory

4. Grading Band grading information is on Mr. Horn’s web page Included on that page is the Band Rubric

5. Contributing to the students’ Band grade is their performance on the “Personal Concert” that they perform privately for Mr. Horn each marking period

6. Band Homework Band Homework = daily practice at home

7. Practicing: It doesn’t take much! 5 minutes each day will ensure success

9. Band students gain fulfillment through involvement In other words, students who practice just a little will get the most enjoyment out of Band

11. Holiday Band Small group of musicians selected by Mr. Horn from both Red and Blue Bands Repertoire: Holiday music Performances: -Throughout the building on the last day of classes in December (Tuesday, December 23, 2014) - Winter Band Concert (January 15, 2015)

12. Jazz Band Entrance by audition Auditions will take place in mid-October Audition dates and audition materials will be posted on Mr. Horn’s web page soon
