Welcome to Construction of Open Space RWHS Orientation

Critical Path Analysis Project: Construction of Roadside and Open Space Rainwater Water Harvesting Structures within the Coimbatore Municipal Corporation Area Work to be done: Total no. of RWHS Open Space Roadside 21513085 Time frame : 4 months from December 1st 2009 Distribution :Evenly in all 4 zones

Week123456789101112 Open 3 154070100130 Road side Cast slabs 1020304254667885 Time frame for Critical Path

Open Space RWHS

Material Required Soling stone : 4.67 cum (1.65 Unit) 40 mm Metal : 4.98 cum (1.75 Unit) Pebble : 2.13 cum (0.75 Unit)

Open SpaceDays Drill & Erect casing pipe. Fix end cap, measure & note depths – Total, hard rock, Water struck with pressure (can be > 1) - Report data to office 1 Earth work Excavation for percolation pit : 8’ Dia and 8’ Depth of Circular pit Based on the soil formation depth and dia may vary 2 Arrange filter materials nearer to the pit (Soling, 40 mm Metal and Pebbles)1 Fill the filter materials into percolation pit (Soling and 40 mm metal can be filled first then take water sample and measure static water level of the bore hole finally fill the pit with pebbles) Collect data sheet, labeled can from office 1 Collect, can and label water sample Use ball pen to write Submit water sample for analysis Remove excavated earth Total No. of days Required5

Rain Water Harvesting Structures (Open Space) RWHSs (Open Space) with borewells, recharge pits with filter material One of the Model of RWHS at General Hospital, Coimbatore

RWHSs (On Roadside) with borewells, recharge pits and filter media Rain Water Harvesting Structures (On Road Side)

Useful Hints Filling materials quantity –Soling stone : 4.67 cum –40 mm Metal : 4.98 cum –Pebble : 2.13 cum Plain casing pipe goes in first and perforated one stays on top – each pipe measures 20 feet Helpline Siruthuli office98946 31551 K. 10 Supervise construction activities Open Type Check for low lying areas where water logs Drill & Erect casing pipe. Fix end cap Measure the drilling depth (at the time of removing drill rods – each rod measures 18.50 Feet) Measure the length of casing pipe erected (both perforated and plain) Obtain drill logs – - Yield of the bore, - No of fracture zones, - Water struck depths - Hard rock struck depth

Guidelines Average depth of bore hole 90 meters Plain casing pipe 6 mt at the bottom Perforated casing pipe 6 mt at the top Excavate earth for percolation pit Record earth work measurements Arrange for filter materials Fill in the filter materials Measure static water level Collect water sample Submit water sample for analysis Report data to office Remove excavated earth
