3 No closing dates for the Community Training & Development Fund or the Local Heritage Incentive Scheme All other grants applications generally open in late January and close in the first week of March. –the grants are assessed by a panel –recommendations approved at Council Meeting –Note: funding is made available in the following financial year ie: July. Grant Writing Workshop’s are available to support potential applicants Timeframe

4 General Tips Allow as much time as possible to prepare your application – it is likely you will require input / support from others … Read the Guidelines! If in doubt, speak with the nominated Funding Officer Look for opportunities to demonstrate strategic alignment

5 General Tips Highlight key words in the grant application question to maintain focus on what should be in your answer Each answer counts – a small word limit does not mean the answer is not important! Don’t make assumptions re any prior knowledge of the grant assessors…

6 Focus on Benefits not Features! A feature relates to the specific details of the project / event A benefit is the impact of the project /event and how this addresses the need you have identified for your target audience Funding bodies invest in the benefits / impact of your project!
