6. RTI (Response to Intervention) gives teachers a chance to remediate small groups of students and also enrich students who already grasp concepts. Our school-wide program allows all students to receive intensive reading and math instruction two days a week.

9. Students may visit the Media Center when class schedules allow time. Students are encouraged to choose at least one on-level book. The students have the option of choosing a second book of their pleasure- below-, on-, or above-level. Common Core standards require students to read an equal amount of fiction and nonfiction titles. AR is a single component in our assessment of comprehension. Although it is a valuable tool, our main focus on comprehension will occur within our guided reading groups.
