The Option Pathways Available The Core Compulsory Subjects such as English, Maths and Science Pathway A Traditional GCSEs Core and chosen subjects studied Pathway B Young Apprenticeship Equivalent to 4 GCSEs at A* - C depending on course chosen Pathway C Vocational Courses Level 1 courses are equivalent to 4 GCSEs at D – G Level 2 courses are equivalent to 5 GCSEs at A* - C Pathway D The Diploma Foundation courses are equivalent to 5 GCSEs at D - G Higher courses are equivalent to 7 GCSEs at A* - C

The Importance of Core GCSEs ► Compulsory subjects like Maths, English, PSHE, ICT, PE, and Science ► Develop key skills and knowledge transferable to other subjects ► Grades in these subjects determine which post 16 courses you can study

GCSE Options – Pathway A ► Choosing up to 4 further GCSEs that are studied in addition to the core ► Wide variety of GCSEs to choose from – details in the option booklet and from the ‘stalls’ in the gym after these speeches

Why Take Pathway A? ► Many FEHS students are equipped to get good grades – guidance will be provided ► The courses provide a strong foundation for post 16 courses – coursework, exam experience ► Studying in a familiar environment ► A range of GCSEs will give you a greater variety of possible career pathways ► Strong teaching
