Time managers – approx. 8 minutes per activity Materials Managers – You are responsible for: 5 nickels 1 butter knife 1 penny 1 index card 1 beaker 1 cart 1 rubber band 1 blob of clay 1 cloth 2 blocks ***You MUST check in your boxes with us at the end of the activity

Exit When you are finished with the POGIL activity, CHECK IN with a teacher. You will receive your next set of instructions ◦ Teacher will explain 1 st Law ◦ Students will go back and complete any questions asking you to explain in terms of 1 st Law ◦ Your Exit Slip will be to finish your Do Now (last column) and turn in

Newton’s First Law Newton’s 1 st Law (aka Law of Inertia) states that: every object continues in a state of rest, or of uniform speed in a straight line, unless acted on by a non-zero net force. Simply put, things tend to keep doing what they are already doing…UNLESS acted on by a non-zero net force This tendency of objects to keep doing what they are already doing is called inertia INTERIA DOESN’T WANT TO CHANGE!
