PUNCH Snack Backpack Program Associated with the Hilltop Schools of Davenport
2
What the Program is About… The “Snack Backpack” is the result of teachers and adults in the school system that noticed there were some students that didn’t have regular meals in the evening and on the weekends. They wanted to help.
3
What are the Snack Backpacks? The snack backpacks are put together for the youth that have been identified by their teachers as needing some food items during the evening, and weekend, hours. The backpacks are prepared by volunteers who pack the backpacks with ready-to-eat food that kids can open at home. They pickup the backpacks on their way home from school.
4
Food Items are Bought at the Riverbend Food Pantry & Brought Back Volunteers bring the backpack food items back for storage and later packing.
5
Volunteers Pack the Backpacks and Deliver them to Schools
6
Each Child gets a Backpack Each Backpack Contains Snack Items That Can be Used Without Can Opener or adult assistance. They now have something they can eat whether they have other food given to them or not.
7
They Pickup the Backpacks at School School administrators help the youngster get the backpack at a time others don’t know they are receiving it. The backpacks look like any other pack other kids carry.

The PUNCH Program In 2012 the PUNCH group provided funding out of donations made by Hilltop churches. In 2013 the American Baptist Churches provided a $3,500 grant to help the PUNCH program continue. This year it all depends on YOU!
