Portugal Begins Age of Exploration Prince Henry “the Navigator” He started a school of navigation where sailors and mapmakers could learn their trades. His expeditions explored the coast of Africa (EXAMPLE, WHERE)

Bartolomeu Dias: He became the first European to sail around the Southern tip of Africa (Example of Where).

Vasco da Gama: He sailed to India and brought valuable spices (Where) back to Portugal.
