Built by semi-nomadic hunter gatherers. Predates Stonehenge by about 7000 years and the Great Pyramid by 7500 years. Shows a level of cooperation previously not thought to exist this early. Predates the first known walled city, Jericho, by 2000 years. Pre-Göbekli, archaeologists thought that monumental architecture was only possible after systematic agriculture. Pre-Göbekli, archaeologists thought complex religious practices developed AFTER systematic agriculture. What is Göbekli Tepe’s Significance?
