Main idea: The development of agriculture caused an increase in population and the growth of a settled way of life.

Technological and Artistic Advances Early man made inventions and art to survive. Old Stone Age people were Nomads= highly mobile people who moved with the seasons and followed the food supply. Nomads worked as hunter-gatherers= groups that depended on hunting animals and gathering plants for food. Develop new tools to make their life easier.

The Development of Agriculture Neolithic Revolution= The change from gathering plants in the natural habitat to gathering by planting. Starts the change of humans living in bands of 25 to 75 people to living more as a condensed family. Slash and burn farming used to keep soil fertilized.

Domestication Domestication is the taming of animals. Horses, dogs, goats, pigs, chickens Both farmers and nomads domesticated animals

Developments towards Civilization Farming and domestication leads to the development of job diversification. Job diversification leads to trade and producing a surplus of food Producing a surplus of food leads to government All leads to our first civilizations
