1 ORGANIZATION Materials Space Time

2 Organizing Your Materials
Use an agenda or planner. Make sure your name, phone number, and address are on the inside cover. Take your planner everywhere!

3 Materials Use a binder for each class unless instructed otherwise.
Label the spine of each binder with the subject. Place your name, phone number, and address on the inside cover of each binder.

4 Materials Use dividers to organize binders.
Work on paper securely fastened in your binder. Remove papers properly-never rip! Punch holes in papers and file in your binder immediately.

5 Materials Keep your binders in the SAME PLACE in your book bag, locker, and home. Avoid binder cross-over!

6 Materials Once a week tidy up all binders.
Watch out for transitions between places or tasks! That’s when things get lost. Do a quick mental check when faced with a door way whether large (building), medium (room), or small (locker).

7 Space Use organizers to keep your locker neat; self- adhesive hooks and pockets are examples. Clean your locker out weekly; don’t let it become a catch-all for junk. Do not share a locker!

8 Space Set up a regular study area at home.
Your study area should have good lighting, minimal noise, and a comfortable chair. Your study area should also have plenty of supplies such as paper, pencils, highlighters, etc.

9 Space When you come in from school, put your texts, binders, and book bag in your study area; don’t scatter these items around the house! To minimize distractions, clear everything except what you will need for studying.

10 Space Keep your school desk and surrounding area clean and clutter free. Put any materials not in use in the metal basket under your desk-not on the floor. Always check your desk BEFORE you leave the room (doorway)!
